There are plenty of people out there, ready to voice their negative opinions of television and its impact on children of each generation. Many say it has contributed to the rise of attention defecit and lack of imagination. Do they have a point? Statistics would say yes. Common sense says yes. Experience says yes. Does this make TV bad?
No.
For every four children's minds that TV has destroyed, there is one it has enriched. I'd be one of the five. How do I fancy myself different from the rest?
First of all, it has allowed me to embrace many different areas of study. Because of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Big Trouble in Little China, I gained an interest in Asian culture, therefore taking an East Asia Traditions class in college and loving it. Highlander influenced a wanting to learn more about history, leading to more than just school requirements, like Greek History and Medieval Imagination.
Maybe I'm missing my own point. Gimme a second. ;D
Okay. Many people say that TV makes so much convienent that kids, and adults, don't want to read or learn anymore, and I thoroughly enjoyed my college classes and I continue to read and learn. I like to keep my mind sharp.
How do you feel about television and its influences on us?
